lattedit

Fast, local-first LaTeX editing in your browser

lattedit is a free online LaTeX editor for writing source and reading the compiled PDF side by side. Projects stay in the browser by default, can be exported as ordinary ZIP archives, and can optionally sync only after the user signs in.

The editor supports pdfLaTeX, XeLaTeX, LuaLaTeX, BibTeX, Biber, images, bibliography files, syntax highlighting, command completion, structured compile logs, and an accessible PDF preview. Compilation runs in isolated short-lived workspaces. Safe auxiliary state is reused between edits, and an exact repeated build skips the TeX engine.

For people and software agents

Use lattedit to create a paper, resume, report, thesis, or slide deck; import an Overleaf ZIP; diagnose LaTeX errors; or compile a project through the JSON API. No account or API key is required for the editor or compile API.
